Can you answer some questions about gymnastics for me?

okay i used to do gymnastics then i stopped for a little while now im going back...... my levels are uneven like i could be a level 5 on beam but only a level 1 on bars!!?? so what level would i be

Balance Beam: Cartwheel, Handstand, any jump, full turn, half turn, round off dismount, front walkover dismount, cartwheel handstand twist

Floor: back walkover, front walkover and working on back handspring

Vault: Working on front handspring but have been doing handstand flat back

Bars: i really suck at these: kip cast almost back hip circle

So could u tell me what level i would be and i am gonna get tested but i'd like to know in advanced! and also is it worth buying home equipment if so where should i put it? thanks sooooo much in advanced

    beam - level 5

floor - level 3, almost 4 (get that bhs quick!)

    vault - level 4

    bars - level 1 or 2

it depends on who is testing you and how strict they are, and if they see potential in you to progress quickly. considering you are a level five on only beam, you will not be put in level five right away. i would say they will start you off probably around level 3 pre-team, instead of regular level 3 or actual team level 4. the reason why i think you will not be put in level 4 right away is because they probably dont want you to be really behind on bars, if youre on team. thats why i think they will put you on preteam for awhile, then when you progress on bars, and get your back and front handspring on floor, you will be put in level four, and then hopefully level five when you get better at vault and floor. good luck, girl! :)

oh, and if your parents have the money to be buying you home equipment (which is very expensive), i would say you should put it either in the garage or the playroom (if you have one). if not, then maybe outside under a tarp or something. here are some good tips for you, for cheaper equipment...you can go on ebay and type in what youd like, or go to google and type in "used gymnastics equipment". or, if your dad/uncle/grandpa is a handyman or carpenter, you can have him make you a bar in your backyard, or a beam if youd like. it would be WAY cheaper, and custom made, too!

for a home-made bar, my friends dad made one that held up a heavy man by just getting two pieces of wood, more or less 4 feet long (you can make it longer or shorter if you want your bar shorter or higher), and at the ends of the wood, put a circular hole in them for the pole. yes, it will probably be a metal pole/bar, like the ones at your local park, but its better than nothing!

my grandpa made me a home-made beam in the past, and it was great to practice difficult skills on, because he made it lower than the average beam, and much wider than the average beam (which is four inches). again, he made it out of wood, and covered it with carpet, which worked perfect. my beam was about 6-8 inches wide, because i wanted it that way.

well you'd be level 5 on beam. you'd need a backwalkover to be level 6. On floor you'd be level 3 but you'd be 4 once you get a backhandspring. on vault you'd be level 4 and once you got a front handspring you'd be level 5 and 6. And on bars you'd be like 1 or 2.

Depending on your gym, I think it would be best if you were an optional. Then you would be able to compete any skills. Optionals have the same scoring high school so if your school as a gymnastics team you could compete for them. Then you could compete whatever skills and you wouldn't have to compete all events if you don't want to.

If you aren't on a high school team or optional team, i would talk to your coach about what level. They might have you compete only some events so that you can compete at a higher level or you could compete your lowest level which would be about a two.

You should consult a qualified trainer/coach.
