The first Muslim religious war and the first Muslim religious battles were started by Mohamed himself. It has always been a relgion based on conquest and submission.

Well, there was that time in Spain when it was controlled by Muslims that they allowed the Jews to live in peace and practice their own religion. Then came the Crusades and the Christians took Spain. They had something called an inquisition and well, not so good for them Jews in Spain anymore.

As a matter of fact there was a time in th early history of Islam when there was limited tolerance for Jews and Christians and they were allowed to live in Muslim cities.

Actually the prophet Muhammad himself doctored up a poster-sized letter to the head of the Greek-Orthodox Catholic Church talking about peace and harmony between the two religions. He signed it with his hand print. Its on display in Turkey somewhere.

The age of conquest saw all religions and nations vying for power, in these modern times, there are international bodies which are supposed keep such endeavours in check, but we've seen GW Bush disreguard those bodies and unilaterally invade two countries killing maiming and displacing millions.

The USA seemed happy to take advantage of their religion when it came to fighting the soviets, and now we have the problem of extremists in Aghanistan that was very liberal in the 70s.

@Mr. President, I'm sorry, you are mistaken. They do not adapt to other countries as far as religion goes. They want the country to adapt to them, or at least be tolerant of and accept their religious practices.

Beliefs we can tolerate if we have to; everybody has that right. But practicies is completely different and most of theirs will NEVER be tolerated here. That is one of the reasons in general that they hate us.
