Can any of you do this?
Can you make the argument about who the best player in the league "right now" is without bringing up the past?
- No talk of rings
- No talk about MVPs
- No talk about Finals
- No talk about what someone else said about a player
- No talk about anything that happened before right now
If you can, then go for it.
@Bruce123- It can not be that hard. Talk about Kobes shot, and how he leads a team, or that he can do "XYZ" better then anyone. I assume that you would pick Kobe.
@난 필리핀이야!
I get what you are saying, but the stats that Kobe put up in 1999 have nothing to do with how great he is today. The fact that he can score 30 points and get 6 assists a game do. The fact that he won a championship in 2008 has nothing to do with what is going to happen this year. The fact that he could lead yet another team to a title this year has something to do with him being the best player NOW.
@난 필리핀이야!
I do not get your edit? I said that Kobe can score 30 and 6, right now. I also said he could lead his team to anther championship now. Those things are not things that happened in the past. If you are talking about the guy that said Lebon right after you, he was talking about how Leborn can play 4 or 5 positions and well rounded Lebron is. That is what he can do NOW.
@Chris Da gReAt- Thank you. I thought that I was going to have to delete this question because no one wanted to try to answer it.

To be honest I think Lebron is the best player. I'm not saying this cuz Imma Heat Fan (I like the Celtics). I think he's the best cause he can play pretty much any position and he's just really good at everything.

EDIT: THANKS FOR THE TWO POINTS... CIAO!
Are we able to judge a player's performance and who's the best without first looking up their achievements and records?
Using your argument above as an example, if I say Kobe is the best because he leads a team to greatness, how will I be able to support my argument without looking at the past? What would I mean when I say "he leads a team"? Does that mean he leads a team to best records(fallacy), titles(fact, and we have to look into the past to support this argument).
In short, we cannot talk about players based on "right now" because it is offseason and they haven't even played a single preseason game! The only way we can judge a player's performance is by delving into his achievements and records and stats. That is not hard to grasp, is it?
Perhaps we can judge all the NBA players by how they look or how big their muscles are? Or who look better in their muscle shirts or jerseys?
Source(s): EDIT: Man those accomplishments are good arguments man. BUT STILL they are PAST. Right? You were asking for the present right? Anything that happened BEFORE YOU ASKED THIS QUESTION Are PAST. Do you get it? Well anyway, I'm just gonna say Kobe Bryant is the best. The reason? Well, I AM PROJECTING him to average a triple double this upcoming NBA season, putting up #'s like 30ppg, 15rpg and 10apg compared to LeBron James who will be putting up just 25ppg, 5rpg and 5apg. I ALSO PROJECT him to capture 3 more titles in the next 5 years before he starts talking about retiring. I say projecting because I can't decide who is better because they haven't played a single game yet as of me typing this and as of you asking this question. And don't even get started with street pick up games or pick up gym games because those aren't official games.
