I hate a tackling drill in high school football?
We have a ball carrier and a tackler, and from up close they smash each other. I'm kind of afraid to do it, and plus if I don't tackle the ball carrier I will embarrass myself and look bad. I'm a receiver and I'm not use to hitting. Should I be afraid of the contact? Any tips on tackling from up close?

Ugh, I'm a wide receiver too and I hate tackling. The best thing for you to do is just stick it out, don't listen to the 'grow balls' dooshbag. A good idea would be either avoid hitting your elbows or buy elbow pads because those HURT when they get hurt. Tackling from up close, keep your feet wide and WATCH HIS STOMACH. Don't look at the head because of head fakes. Good luck

well to avoid getting hurt keep your head up, players have broken their necks putting their head down, and just go as low as possible and wrap the ball carrier up, your a receiver the coach wont expect you to make some big devastating hit he just wants to see if your afraid of some physical play
