Should I get a 19* hybrid (3 hybrid) or 19* wood (5 wood) ?
I'm trying to bridge the gap between a 3 wood (around 200 yds) and a 4 iron (about 170). I really like my 3 wood, it is a nike dymo, so i was considering getting a 5 wood to match it. Then with all the hype about hybrids, I wasn't sure. What do you think?

well a five wood and hybrid are very similar but the hybrid has a more penetrating ball flight which means it is better into the wind. hybrids are easier to pick up clean out of the rough and if you are a slow swinger this could be for you as they are way easier to hit than long irons.
PS there are nike dymo hybrids look for them

There's a 2 club difference between a 3 wood and a 4 iron. 5 wood is a 2 iron replacement or you can get a 2 hybrid as well as a 3 hybrid. I hit my hybrids so well that I rarely touch my 3 wood anymore. If I do, it's off the tee. I hit my hybrids with a higher trajectory than my 3 wood. If you like your Dymo 3 wood then get the Dymo 5 wood, but you'll need a 3 iron replacement as well depending on how far you hit your clubs.

You do realize that the lofts are different on the two clubs? 3 hybrid is 21-22 degrees. 5 wood is 17-19 degrees. Your next logical choice would either be a 5 wood or 2 hybrid. I went with 2 hybrid because I get a higher trajectory with the hybrid.

It depends. They're two different clubs, even though they have the same loft. Woods will have a bigger "footprint" (how big they are); the face will have some bulge (a horizontally convex shape), the FW will have lighter heads and longer shafts. Hybrids will have smaller, heavier heads with flat faces and shorter shafts.
Theoretically, you should be able to hit the 3w longer than the hybrid, because of the longer shaft. It's also possible you'll hit the 3w less accurate, because of the longer shaft. This is where a proper fitting comes into play.
A club fitter can help you decide which club you really need to fill the gap, and also make sure that it's the right length, flex and other things for your swing. It's posible that the 3w is the right club; it's also possible that you can hit a properly-fitted 3h farther than the 3w because you can make more consistent impact with the center of the face.
Personally, I prefer a 19* hybrid because of the control factor. However, you're not me and you're going to have a different swing and different needs. That's why you need to get fitted.

Being as odds are you'll have better results by going with a shorter-shafted club, and fairway woods have much longer shafts than simiarly lofted hybrids, when added to the fact that hybrids are more versitile from a variety of lies I'd go with the hybrid. Whether you'd prefer one over the other is up to you.

go to your local golf outlet and try them both and see how u feel with them i play 2 thur 5 iron in hybrid taylormade and i love them have lower my scores and easier to hit from the rough but if you feel good with your 3 wood its a safe bet your going to feel better with the 5 wood so try them and see what u think good luck and happy golfing
