Politics: Granny Proves Second Amendment Works?

http://rr.com/news/topic/article/rr/1110/20113883/...

Ethel Jones was legally able to own a gun, so she used it to shoot the man who broke into her home.

If the Second Amendment were not in place, we might be reading about Ms. Jones' funeral instead of her victory over crime.

Of course this is a victory. To many times terrible crimes go unsolved or there is not enough evidence to convict the offender. There was no question about who the burglar was & thankfully the victim was unharmed.

For the person who mentioned "it could have been a 12 yr old/ mischief maker" be glad she lives in Ala. In the state of Texas:

"Deadly force is justified to prevent certain crimes, self defense" Penal codes 9.31, 9.32,& 9.34

    9.34

Which includes Theft during nighttime AND Criminal mischief during the night as legal reasons for deadly force.

    9.31 states

"You are justified in using deadly physical force when & to the degree you reasonably believe it is immediately necessary to prevent someone's use or attempted use of force on you,....& to prevent someone from committing: 1: aggravated murder, 2: murder, 3: sexual assault, 4: aggravated sexual assault, 5: aggravated robbery

In short all that had to happen was: this happen at night & her be afraid of being hurt, age of criminal plays not part in the matter. I am sure that you understand that some 12 yr olds are not as innocent as we would all hope. If more would be criminals thought they could die in the act of their crime, they might choose another path.

Technically, the very fact that she legally owned a gun proved the second amendment works.

Source(s): It seems highly improbable that this many people on here have foiled robberies, murders, convict escape attempts, or most especially kidnappings of murder witnesses by the murderer.

As does the time that I stopped a kidnapping, which I later found to be a kidnapping attempt of a murder witness by the murderer. This happened at a grocery store, out in the parking lot.

Had I been restricted to keeping the gun inside my home, the girl would have been gone and probably dead.

In that particular case the 2nd amendment proved to be a life saver. But what about all the stories where little Suzie was caught in the crossfire of a gang-related shooting? It has its pros and its cons. Guns should stay in the home, where it would still help in defending oneself if they are attacked in their own home (which was the original intent of the 2nd amendment as British troops systematically broke into colonists' homes to steal their food and rape their wives). When guns make their way out into public areas is where major problems can start to occur.

The sad part about this is that these incidents happen all the time but the left wing media refuses to report many of them. You have to go on the NRA website, or small local papers to hear of all the cases of self defense involving a firearm.

Understandable I had a convict threaten my life until he saw the 40 caliber in my hand and he left post haste.

Cons have a low bar for proofs.

Although this does remind me of the time my grandma shot an escaped prisoner attempting to sneak up on her.
