Why do so many people ask how to commit suicide ?

or even what is the fastest way ? The only answer I come up with is that this site is here to ask questions but to ask about suicide ? Has this society really become so thoughtless, so unwilling to live life on life's terms ?

For most of the time, it's due to desperation of attention/pity from someone.

In other cases, it's due to the constant uncertainty in which we call life. There is so much decisions, so much choices that the victim became afraid and seeks the easy way out. The fact that they ask what is the fastest way shows how afraid they are of facing reality. Even when facing death as a way out, they're afraid of it and seek for an easier death.

These often happen to teenagers and young adults because of their lack of experience in facing such mountains of decisions and choices. Society isn't thoughtless but rather it's the fear that blinds society. In a fast paced ever changing world, there will be some who can't cope with the stress of human life through its complication where there is already complication in one's self through one's own emotions conflicting with thoughts.

Don't shun away these people because they need help in boosting their confidence in life. For that, I believe, is one of our duties as friends, family or just another human.

I can't imagine that most people think they will get a true answer here, but I am sure some are hoping to actually get the information. Figuring how to succeed at suicide takes research and people in the midst of deep depression don't have the energy and focus to do this.

These people are in so much pain, unbearable pain, and want a response of some kind from somebody. Sometimes just talking about suicide is therapeutic, just reminding themselves that it is an option is soothing. They don't know where else to go to find someone to talk to. Getting a counselor takes time, involves some emotional and social risk, and even then a person is limited to their appointment times and insurance limits (yes, there are sometimes on-call numbers but that doesn't mean instant response).

There are some trolls, but usually you can tell who they are. If society is serious when encouraging people to get help, then society needs to live up to the claim of caring by actively being supportive.

I think it's a cry for help. I think they feel that nobody cares about them and they just want somebody to care so they ask how to commit suicide for the attention to see how people will respond. I've been suicidal too, I was just released from the hospital last week, and I never asked anyone how to do it either. I already know how to do it and I think most people do, too. I think they are just crying out for someone to care about them.

How ever lousy you feel, do NOT commit suicide. Your life is not your own. You live in a community and others depend on you even if you don't realize it. I had a friend that committed suicide several years ago. That was not a very nice thing to do. I wish she asked me ahead of time.

what I don't understand is why ask people that are still alive? wouldn't it make more sense to look up cases where people succeeded? remember don't put to much stock in the opinion of someone who hasn't reached you're goal. So I think they are looking for attention. I have been put in a mental hospital for being suicidal and I never asked someone how to do it I just said get me help because I want to.

I think that most of the people who ask that question are just wanting attention

I think its because the person who is asking wants pity. They want people to worry and care about them and tell them not to do it.
