The simple answer is yes. But Starcraft, by far, requires much more micro than most other RTS games. Simply because the game is very fast-paced, requires an immense amount of thought, and there is a lot more to click/do.

Some other games that rely heavily on micro are

DoTA/Heroes of Newerth (not really an RTS, more of an Online Action RPG)

    Red Alert series (C&C series)

Warcraft 3 (Yes you said not to mention it, but it is probably the 2nd most intensive game when it comes to micro)

    C&C: Zero Hour

    Warhammer Dawn of War

    Company of Heroes

    Age of Empires II

Since I am a high-tier player, I feel comfortable giving you some tips.

Group your buildings together as well as units.

I usually use ~ for my scout (you have to bind this in controls), 1 for my command center, 2 for my rax, 3 for factory, and 4 for starport. Then the rest for my army. Of course, this is different for each race.

Also, group multiple buildings. If you have 10 factories, Shift + Select them all and group them into 1 group selection. This makes things much easier.

Use hotkeys! You should be able to play the first 5 minutes of your game without right-clicking (except for your scout and for rally points).

Remember, if you aren't doing something, you aren't being productive. Yes watching your void rays annihilate an enemy's nexus is cool to watch, but you outta start building that next void ray and constructing a fleet beacon.

    Good luck

    Halo wars -xbox 360

this is by far, the funnest RTS game for the 360. surprisingly enough...RTS games suck on any console, but halo wars actually works well with the controller.

anyway...back to answering your question. Sorry, i instantly thought of Halo wars for RTS since that is the lat game i played on my xbox. Here is a rather small list of RTS games that i own and play/played alot.

    - Emperor: Battle for Dune (or any of the Dune games for that matter)

    - Star Wars: Empire at War (i dont recommend Star Wars: Force commander, it was a pretty crapy game)

    - Rage of War ( i havent beat this game yet...mainly cause the storyline is terrible, but the gameplay could help in your need of some practice in micro management skills. never got into the whole "space fighting")

In all honestly, if you are trying to get better at micro-ing units in starcraft, complete all the challenges starcraft 2 has and get all golds. That would drastically improve your micro management skills. It would also build up your speed in building troops faster, to block fast rushing.

Source(s): I love RTS games....a little too much for my own good if you ask me.
