Can horses eat skittles?

Is it safe for them?

Update:

I don't feed them to my horse, but another girl at my barn does and I thought all the crap in them might be bad for her horse...plus they have gelatin so...

They won't kill her horse, but she shouldn't like feed them all the time. I give my horses froot loops, lucky charms, and starbursts some times..

Gelatin is normally given to horses with bad feet, so that won't harm her horse at all.

You can feed them skittles. In large amounts No, in small amounts yes. if she feeds 1 or 2 skittles(single skittles not packages) per day it will not hurt it.

Several horses I know LOVE the red and white hard mints(we call them starlight mints) we only feed them 1 or 2 a day during normal rides. During Trick training we feed them 4-5 and during schooling and cart training maybe 2-3(and those are by DAY)

Source(s): Giving lots of sugar is NOT good for horses. Small amounts are okay.

As long as that doesn't make up the horses whole diet... And I mean, I wouldn't feed a whole bag a day, but a few skittles? Not gonna hurt. I think the biggest problem is that the horse *may* end up super mouthy and looking for treats all the time.

My boyfriend's mare loooooves jelly beans.

good god, each and every physique, calm the heck down, you all possibly supply your horses candy feed each and every now and returned and it has molasses in it, it quite is rather like candy, so because it quite is style of like this. candy canes are advantageous, they're like mints, yet destroy them aside into products so they do no longer choke. complicated stuff that turns to powder once you bite it (smarties, sweetarts, and so on.) are actual basically complicated sugar, so a pair of those each and every now and returned won't injury. SHE'S no longer FREAKING FEEDING THEM candy rather of GRAIN, human beings, quiet down.

I assume you are referring to the packaged sweet, not to the game found in pubs.

Why would you want to feed a horse something that is not horse food?

Horses eat grass, hay, oats, prepared horse feed, and occasionally apples or carrots. If what you want to feed your horse is none of those, ask yourself why you're feeding it.

Please quietly ignore the horse over there that just grabbed somebody's ham sandwich.

You shouldn't really - but one of the stallions thats extremetly crabby at my families studfarm loves fruitty polos - either get bitten every morning when your exercising him and mucking out or give him the sugary sweet - I give him the sweet haha. Once in a while - but I wouldnt reccomend it.

Just like us candy is full of sugar - excess energy and can totally upset the balance of the digestive system. It will also rot teeth.

I honestly dont think so, it prob wont KILL them but it might make them sick. they say human foods are bad for animals, well not really fruits and veggies but besides that, everything else. Atleast candy wise or something, because m mom's bird used to love noodles but they say not to give animals things like chocolate and skittles :P :) I suggest u dont :D

    Source(s): i dont own a horse, but i still sugegst u dont
