Why are people so bitter about someone who is making ends meet?
Whenever I mention that my family lives in a modest house and drives a ten year old car but we are still doing fine even with one of us losing our job I get all thumbs down. You would think people who lost their bass boat and Harley in bankruptcy and can't afford rent on their three storage sheds full of crap would be given hope to know it can be done with a lifestyle change.
I put this in the politics section instead of finance because here is where everyone is always complaining.
Thanks to all of you for your answers. To underdog; I had a friend who graduated college and got a job in a bank paying 75,000 after about two years he told me he knew one thing; " He would never be a " insert family name of the banks owners here" . After that he quit and started his own business. that was about fifteen years ago and now he is doing great. Try not to be so bitter and go for what you want out of life. Good luck.
To Ghost; I did not mean to include people who have had health issues or other circumstances through no fault of their own. I raised four kids and two put themselves through college with just a little help from us. I have never made over $38,000 per year, my wife $15,000. So, health problems aside a person has to make their own luck and excuses only breed more people that want to stay in the welfare class.

Because when some people are busting their butts to do exactly what you are saying but still cant' seem to get their foot in the door of comfortable then people like you start bragging and its like salt in their wounds.
Look...some people just get better breaks in life than others. It's got nothing at all to do with how long they work or how hard they work. If not one small door of opportunity is opened to you somewhere along your life when you need it the most, then you're screwed. Like that better paying job you were hoping for hires that illegal immigrant because he works longer for less. Or when you've saved a good sum of money over 20 years toward the down payment on your own little, immodest house but you get sick and now have to pay hospital fees. Stuff like that. Some people get breaks, some people do not and it's cruel when the ones who get the breaks rubs it into the face of the ones who havent. I mean, why should I care if you have it better than me? Are you going to give *me* some of that easily earned money? Are you going to give *me* a break? And look at you...you said "one of us losing our job". You have more than one income? What about people like myself who only have one income and two mouths to feed? You never said what kind of job you have...you could have a very nice job with a very nice income so that second income might not make that big a difference unless you don't want to give up some of those expensive toys like boats or family vacations to Cancun or ATVs.
Some people get breaks, others dont. Dont rub it in...it makes you appear to be an asshole.

people like a looser now days, anyone who does better than them they want them to epic fail...got news for some folks i am a serviver so i could live in a cardbord box in the middle of the woods and still do better than them...

There are a lot of people who never had two incomes or a house, even a very modest one and have lost their only job and it was not a very good one, and to them you sound like a self righteous twit.
