Car electrical problem?

Hello,

I have an electrical problem with my car that causes my speed odometer hand to jump and the car to run sluggishly. It happens about once every two weeks. When i pull over and turn off the ignition, everything electrical (HUD lights, Headlights, dome lights, stereo etc) will have no juice. To remedy this i pop the hood and wiggle one of the two wires connected to the positive terminal. When i hear a click, everything will come back on and the car will start and not act up again for a little while.

Its a 95 Toyota Celica st.

additional things i've noticed are: when a CD is between tracks I can hear a buzzing....when i roll up the power window, i can hear an acceleration like whine from the window motor.

when the speed hand jumps, it jumps from like 45 to like 100 and back in half a second, but does not reflect the way the car is running. The tachometer and all other gauges stay normal.

Any suggestions/wisdom would help. Thanks.

Update:

I've gotten a new battery, put new connectors on both ends, put the anti corrision foam pieces on the posts, put the vasaline like stuff on the posts and looked for corrison inside the cable sheaths....

I think you answered your own question. You probably need a new + battery cable. When it gets disconnected (or barely connected) the alternator may not be able to charge the battery, and you get voltage spikes or the battery just drains down.

Most common problems happen from loose, dirty, or corroded battery terminals.

Take the time to remove, clean (with a wire brush until shiny.) all battery connections.

    99% problem solved.

Clean your battery cable connections and make sure they are tight. See how that works before you try anything else.
