Yahoo Messenger no longer auto-reconnects. What's up?
I tried downloading a fresh copy, too. Used to be, whenever my connection went down, Yahoo Messenger might sign out, but then, it'd sign back on, on its own. Now, for the last couple months, it just sits there, waiting for me to click "Sign On". I was on DSL for awhile. It changed behaviors DURING my DSL customer stint. That is to say, this happened, WHILE I was still a DSL user: the messenger quit automatically signing on when the connection dropped and then quickly reconnected. Okay? Now that I'm a cable customer, the same thing happens. When the connection drops and then quickly reconnects, the messenger doesn't automatically logon by itself. It waits for me to click "Sign On". I hadn't changed any options...
I already have Yahoo Messenger set up to start automatically at system boot (which I do daily). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I may do further to get Yahoo Messenger to reconnect automatically when there's a blip in the connection?
P.S., I find no setting for "Auto-reconnect", so if you know of such a setting, please tell me where to find it!

I have DSL and my yahoo messenger auto-reconnects with no problem. I just did the opposite of you I just dumped cable due to being extremely slow, but even with cable I still had no problem. Even during the switch from cable to DSL...and yes my DSL is 40 times faster then cable was for me. I hope you have better luck with cable then I did, my 4 neighbors just got rid of their cable internet service as well and went to DSL also!
double check your settings for yahoo messenger for auto reconnect, you shouldn't have that problem.
