Are you having trouble with your PS3 controller or PS3 remote ?
If it's your controller, try to charge your controller if it won't come on. Wireless controllers must be plugged into the PS3 via the USB cord to charge when the batteries start to get low. If you weren't paying attention to the low battery warning, it's possible the control ran completely out of juice. The PS3 must be on while the controller is plugged in for it to charge.
Reset the controller if it doesn't seem to be responding correctly. There is a reset button located in a very small hole on the back of the controller. If you turn the controller over and keep the top side of the controller facing up, the hole will be on the right side, toward the top. You will need a thin pointy object, such as a pin or a straightened paper clip to get inside the hole and press the reset button. Sometimes resetting makes a controller that seems otherwise dead work like new.
Sync your controller to the unit again. If what you are doing on the controller isn't translating to the screen, it is likely a sync issue. That doesn't necessarily mean that the controller is dying. It may just need to be synced to the system again. Plug your controller in via the USB port, and press the "PS" button to sync.
For a remote, On occasion, you may not be able to use the PS3 remote to connect with the PS3. To connect the remote properly, first make sure the batteries are inserted properly into the remote control.
Next, turn on the PS3 and access the home screen. With the PS3 controller, select "Settings." A drop-down menu will appear. Select "Accessory Settings" and choose the option "BD Control." Follow the on-screen instructions to sync or pair the remote control with the PS3. When syncing the remote, hold down the "PS" button so the PS3 will recognize the Blue tooth signal. After the PS3 recognizes the signal, your remote should be connected and work properly.
Sometimes the remote may be unresponsive when you try syncing it with the PS3. The PS3 will not recognize the Blue tooth signal, and you will be unable to connect the remote. The first solution is to check that the batteries in the remote are inserted properly. If they are, you then resynchronize the remote to the PS3. If it is still not working, check to make sure that no other Blue tooth devices are turned on in the area. Multiple Blue tooth devices can disrupt the signal of the remote trying to connect to the PS3. After turning off any other Blue tooth devices, attempt to resynchronize. If this doesn't work, an internal hardware problem may exist within the PS3 or remote control.
If the PS3 remote disconnects after turning the PS3 off, you have to sync the remote with the PS3 every time you turn the gaming system back on. This can be annoying because the syncing process takes a few minutes. You can solve this issue simply by updating the PS3's firmware. The firmware update will load new software onto the PS3 that will correct this issue.
I hope this helps you !

Have your ps3 on standby and your controller OFF. Plug your USB lead into the controller, then the ps3. Press the PS button on the controller to boot up the ps3 and to pair it with the console. leave it to charge. If this doesn't work, hook up the USB to the controller and plug it into a USB port on your laptop/PC to see if it charges, if it charges on another device, there may be a problem with the USB port on your Ps3.
