To work in the Spa, you must go through Steiner. They are a concession that is contracted out by almost all the major cruise lines to manage the spa. Period. A few smaller more luxury ships do it in house, but you need serious experience and you have to do some legwork to get in the door. Steiner is the low hanging fruit.

It is long hours for spa workers. They make you go to London for your first few weeks to learn the corporate BS mantra to "sell sell sell". That is their big push is for you to pimp Steiner beauty products. If you are good at sales, then you can make decent money. If not, then you better hope for good tips. Some steiners didn't make much, others did.

And then some of the others don't care about the money, they just wanted to hook up and shag the highest ranking officer. Yes, that is true.

You will also find their first contract is typically 8 months long. If you leave early or take a shorter contract then you have to buy your own flight home. You also work long hours during sea days, upwards of 14 hour days. On port days you might have off or you might work. If you are stuck onboard it really sucks because you sit around as all the passengers are off the ship so you aren't busy.

I worked onboard for 3 years and know this personally. Many people love working on ships. I know I sure did.
