can i claim for trauma/ nightmares and loss of sleep for being a victim of armed robbery?

i was in a warehouse shopping for my business when three men barged in and told everyone to lie on the floor waving machetti's at us. i was at the back of the wholesalers near the toilets and i actually managed to go into the toilets and lock myself in. i was petrified and phoned 999 on my mobile. to cut a long story short i am now having nightmares and wont go out much lately . is there any compensation i can seek.

The government have a special body that deals with individuals who are seeking compensation after being involved in a crime. It is called Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority and you will need to seek the advice of a solicitor in order to put in a claim for your compensation.

Each case is looked at on an individual basis and each outcome and amount of compensation is different. The amount you will receive for your injuries largely depends on how serious the crime was and also how badly injured you have been. You will need to provide medical evidence of your injuries as well as any costs you have incurred because of your accident. Your solicitor will make sure you have all of this evidence when they submit your claim.

I really hope you can get through this. All the best xx

Do you want compensation because you feel that you are stuck with this problem for life or to fund you getting over it?

If the latter, which I hope it is, then once you have followed the advice above, find yourself a clinical hypnotherapist who is also trained in eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR). This link will help, http://www.hypnosisdatabase.co.uk:8080/hd/fmpro?-d...

EMDR is a very powerful way of dealing with trauma such as you experienced in a relatively short time.

By the way, the action you took was very sensible and probably allowed the Police to get mobilised faster than they otherwise would.

ok well first you need to contact ur dr to record your ptsd and then call victim Support, if they decide u have a claim they will decide how badly you have been affected, etc# icant guarantee that you will be awarded anything but who knows

you may want to ask ur dr to put you on a list for therapy to come to terms with what happened
