Quick: Is an Excel file a sheet?
I need to input phone numbers into Excel. The person says she needs 5 Excel files, one for each city. I know nothing about Excel but I like challenges and love to type. Somehow I think this person would need much more than 5 sheets only. So, please clarify for me if "file" is one single "sheet"?
DENN and AMONTEF'S, thanks for aswering since your answers are both good, I'll put the question to vote.

Denn is correct, an Excel file can consist of 1 worksheet or many worksheets. You can insert additional worksheets and then rename each sheet to be a different city. That way only 1 Excel file is needed.
Most versions have a little over 65K rows and 256 columns.
Also, to make it easier, you can format the cells to be set up for phone numbers and it will automatically put the parenthesis and dashes in. All you need to do is type in the 10 digits.

Each Excel file [Workbook] can have a number of sheets (different of versions of Excel have different maximums) Excel 2007 is I believe unlimited. The major limit to how many sheets you can/should have per Workbook is really the capacity/memory of the computer you are using (more sheets means bigger files - bigger files need more memory, they may open but will be very slow).
Hope this helps
