Lots of good reasons not to burn the Quran. What possible good reason is there to burn it?

Good enough to justify the backlash the act would create?

Update:

@TEAring down - so if someone in an Islamic national burns the Bible they're showing you who's boss? Doesn't work for me.

Update 2:

@Lloyd J - you've used that free speech in a nicely insulting fashion right here. I'm asking why go all the way to inciting violence?

Update 3:

@Gadfly - You're saying you expect that this will trigger violence. Are you also saying that the whole point of the exercise is to trigger violence against Americans?

Not one. This is simply an act of hatred directed toward hundreds of millions of people, based in nothing more than bigotry, prejudice and religious intolerance.

This action goes to the very heart of the corruption that is destroying America.

Oh man, this was the talk of the day today! That so-called "preacher" must be ASKING for another war with the Muslims. The foreign Muslims and the ones that live right HERE in the states! What a J@ck@ss!!! And how much you wanna bet that he's affiliated with the GOP/tea party extremists? I'll bet that he is. I just don't want to hear any of them CRYING once the new war begins! When you ask for it, people BRING it! And really even if he doesn't go ahead and burn the books, there still may be a war because he's already said what he was going to do, and started the "burn the koran" movement and got his sheep all pumped up. If Muslims were burning the bible here, there's a $1000 on it that the fanatics here would go apesh*t over it. What makes them think that Muslims wouldn't be angry if they burn their religious book? Oh, it's about to be on! Where's Palin, and Limbaugh and Beck etc on this issue? I bet not one of them is trying to stop that sick b@$t@rd pffft.

    No "good" reason.

The Koran is just a book. The ideas it expresses can not be burned. They will continue to inspire barbaric actions like 9/11, the stoning of young girls, child suicide bombers, and the beheading of journalist.

The burning is a symbolic act and nothing more. I have little doubt that it will trigger irrational and psychotic behavior on the part of many Muslims as the Allah cartoons did. Perhaps the Muslims irrational and intolerant behavior in response to this trivial and possibly misguided action will be a wakeup call to the cultural relativist among us that demand blind tolerance of the intolerant.

@Chelifi Not at all, While I cant understand the motives for the burners actions, I do not believe inciting violence is one of them. I am saying I expect a violent, irrational, and disproportionate response from many Muslims around the world. Don't you? I also do not believe it will be directed only against Americans, The burning of news paper offices, attacks on embassies and innocent civilians after the cartoons were not just directed at the country of the cartoons origin. It was an indiscriminate outpouring of hate and violence directed against all non Muslims.

It is childish and immature. I am surprised and very disappointed that someone who espouses to be religious would even entertain such an idea! What purpose does it serve? All religions have people who have done something shameful and not supported by the majority. Should Timothy McVey's acts be avenged in such a manner?

The really moronic thing is that our soldiers will bear the brunt of this ridiculous act.

By the way...doesn't the Christian faith...the REAL Christian faith teach tolerance?

To show the people what kind of backlash it would create.

Then compare that backlash with the one created by burning flags.

After comparing the two, we can clearly see which belief system is tolerant and which is evil. And we can finally expose who is defending the wrong side. But I agree you have the right to not want this to happen.

Source(s): If someone burns a Bible, it is business as usual, no Christian really cares that much-they are used to this treatment.

1.3 BILLION Muslims in this world, and they’re getting mighty angry with the USA and with Christians specifically.

Can't think of any other than you're a spiritual retard.

There are 1.3 BILLION Muslims in this world, and they’re getting mighty angry with the USA and with Christians specifically.

This is what the GOP has created for political gain. That’s not only irresponsible and extremely stupid, it’s immoral.

If we give up our rights to free speech voluntarily, haven't the Islamofascists won? We have to exercise our rights to show the world we are not knuckling under to these cowardly bastards. If we live by their Sharia standards voluntarily, we are nothing but sheep going to slaughter.

It'll make me feel mighty fine. And that's all that matters.
