What steps do I take to find out if someone has forged my signature?
The document in question is a car title , that had mine and another party. (OR) on it. The other person has since sold the car without my consent. Took the car without my consent across county lines. The DMV and County Clerk are looking into it for me. Im curious if anyone has went through this before , that will have some helpful ideas, or a better way I can go ahead and go forth with this prosecution. Oh btw, the other person in question ironically, is on probation until October for the same thing FORGERY. *rolls eyes*
The Car in question had both our names on the title. The car was taken, without me knowing, since SOLD for money. On the other parties behalf. Without my consent , therefor signing my name in order to sale.

IF this is a transaction under the limit for your states small claims court jurisdiction, usually 3K or so to 10K, then file a small claims case to recover youro 1/2 of the amount the car was sold for. The Judge can decide if you signed the paper and are now trying to back out of that transaction or this person forged your signature. Let the DA handle the prosecution part.
YES, if two names are on the title BOTH have to sign away that title!

Hand writing expert, but it makes sense that you would have signed the car title if it was also in your name.
I don't see how forgery is involved in this matter, you clearly state you both signed your name on the title.
Add: So you have a civil suit for half of the car sale, I don't believe both names would have to be signed during the transfer of the car, one would suffice.

uh...why would they have to forge your name? They can transfer the title on their own signature?
Again; if the car is title to A OR B, either person can sell the car legally. They don't need to forge anything and would be foolish to do so. The purpose OF an OR title is so that EITHER party can transfer the title alone. AND would be a different story.

DMV to provide copy of title is all you have here.

You will swear that you never signed the document. Should the prosecution choose to go after the person they may hire a hand writing expert.
If you are going after the person civilly you will have to be the one that gets, and pays for, the expert.
