wireless USB adapter vs wireless NIC?
im not to familiar with the USB wireless adapter/dongle. Is this a fix for not having an internal wireless network adapter? so im assuming this functions as an external wireless adapter. I have an old xp pc that i need wireless for and looking for the easier way to make it happen. If nothing else i can install a internal wless nic but the usb seems easier

Both of these are the exact same thing except one major difference, one of made to fit into a PCI slot inside a computer and is much bigger. A USB one will normally just plug into a free available USB slot and your operating system will install it and it is usable straight away (some less popular branded usb adapters will need drivers installed manually).
I would recommend the USB one as it can be easily switched between computers/laptops and they come in different sizes, and some have bluetooth and ability for External antennas.

The Netgear WGE 111 will plug directly into the ethernet port. It runs at the 802.11G speed.
