Why is the vatican city so full of vast treasures, when there is so much suffering in the world?
why dont they sell it (not all at once obviously) and use the money for good?

A better Question is why aren't all churches taxed like any business that makes a large profit. The money taken in by Television Churches alone would pay for free medical treatment for the enter population of many countries. Why aren't Churches paying property taxes, especially when there are schools wherein people pay tuition on the the property.

I take your point, but put it this way. The Vatican sells of all its treasures into Private hands-collectors, it gives all it wealth away to the poor and hungry. They live well for a year or so, then the money runs out, the food runs out and your back to square one, poverty Hunger and suffering is a permanent condition. A little temporary succour to help suffering is not going to be enough. Then you will have to ask the new owners of the wealth to do the same. They just wont do it. Its better if the wealth is kept with the Vatican so they can distribute it fairly a financially poor Church is a non existent church. you just cant give wealth away, you need to help people know how to live first.
