Just graduated, how long can I stay on parent's health care?
I graduated in june from OSU. I heard the new healthcare bill allows kids to stay on the health insurance till 27 or so. When does that start? Did I graduate too early for that?
I also heard you have to live with them to stay on the insurance. I don't live with them.

Starting Sept 23rd, you can stay on your parents insurance until your 26th birthday. It does not matter that you are no longer a student & it does not matter if you live there or not. If you never lost insurance before Sept 23rd, it will just continue on. If you lost insurance, you need to wait until the next open enrollment period to get re-insured.
If you are eligible for insurance through your own employer, you are not eligible to continue on your parents insurance, after you graduate from college.

The new health care provision has nothing to do with your being a student. That was the old insurance law. This allows your parents to include you on their policy to age 26 if you dont have work health insurance. It starts September 23 or as soon after that date as your parents insurance implement this change. Here is a website with a link at the bottom regarding Adult Children.

It is age 26 and is NOT in effect so you have no insurance coverage since June of this year. Suggest you find a plan to meet your needs quickly
