What can I do to stop my ears from popping constantly?

I got sick about a week ago, and during that time, I was very congested and my ears kept getting waxy. Then I woke up on Saturday with my right ear popped, clogged and very painful. Since that time, my ears have not really fully recovered, and they are constantly popping if I just swallow. It's not isolated to one ear, and they are both getting waxy again. It's somewhat painful and incredibly irritating.

What can I do to stop this? I really don't want to go to the doctor.

Thanks in advance.

When you swallow and your ear pops, that is gases escaping coming from your inner eardrum. Your joints can make a variety of sounds: popping, cracking, grinding, and snapping. If you are feeling pain when your joint (eardrum) pops, than you should seek a health care provider as soon as possible.

Occasionally fluid in the middle ear will persist for a long period without infection. In this case there may be a slight decrease in hearing. This condition, known as "serous otitis media," is usually treated by trying to open the eustachian tube to allow the fluid to drain; it isn't treated with antibiotics. If this condition persists the doctor may resort to insertion of ear tubes in order to reestablish proper functioning of the middle ear.

Ear pain often is caused by a buildup of fluids and pressure in the middle ear (the portion of the ear behind the eardrum).

Antihistamines, decongestants, and nose drops are used to decrease the amount of fluid flowing from the middle ear and shrink the mucous membranes in order to open the eustachian tube.

Acetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen will provide partial pain relief. See a doctor.

I hope this helps you. And good luck.

I heard ringing in my ears too, like louder hearing test. It could be tinnitus. Gets louder over time. Use this to reduce the ringing.

To stop it you will most likely require medicine of some sort, or have your ears drained(?) anyways you need to to the doctor to get either one, sorry.
