What baby bedding should i get?

We're having our 1st baby in jan and have decided to keep her in our room in a moses basket for the first 3 months and then put her in her own room in a cot bed. I've been looking at bedding etc and am unsure what to get, i dont want to spend a fortune and then it be the wrong thing. Should she sleep in a baby sleeping bag for the 1st 12 month? Please help, thx

Congrats - I'm due at the end of January too but with my 2nd.

Personally I wouldn't use a sleeping bag to begin with. They don't fit well with moses baskets and they're harder to control the temperature. Also you never know what a newborn is going to like.

I'd have about 4 fitted moses basket sheets as they're very easy to change quickly and you need some as back up in case of leaky nappies and vomiting. With my son he could keep the same sheet clean for ages and then run down my entire supply in a day.

Have about the same in small blankets. They're really handy for everything in moses basket size. You can use them in the cot, car or anywhere baby goes.

Then have the same again with sheets for the cot bed and 2 or 3 cot bed size blankets. If once your baby is a bit bigger you find he/she is wriggling out from under the blankets you can invest in a couple of sleeping bags. I found that in the winter they sometimes need a blanket over them too but then my house can get quite cold.

I didn't use a sleeping bag, and my friends never found their babies liked them. Do you know your baby's gender? If you do you might want to go with something for there gender. Or to match the nursery. If you don't know the gender then you want to go with something non specific. Pick a pattern and style you like. I like the Precious Planet Bedding http://www.walmart.com/ip/Fisher-Price-Precious-Cr... This collection is adorable, but a little on the pricey side. http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=7170&e=view... Other than that just go to your local baby store or walmart and pick out bedding you like.

We have this bedding for our little girl (( http://www.target.com/Tiddliwinks-Ladybug-Bedding-... )) It consists of dust ruffle, crib sheet, crib bumper pad and comforter. Did she need any of that? NO. She lays on top of the sheet and comforter with a smaller blanket over top of her like this one (( http://www.target.com/Tiddliwinks-Ladybug-Embroide... )). She never slept in a 'sleep bag'. She sleeps in a sleeper/sleep&play!
