For the lgbt community, you know the why are we so docile post?

A maybe radical idea, maybe others have been doing it too. When haters, religious nuts, trolls--I was going to write a long thing, but I really don't think you want to read it. In my groups a guy gave me some great advice, their my groups, do what I want in them. This is our place, not the trolls, yahoo's or anyone elses. For over a year I've been ignoring them. Yeah, it's kind of setting oiurselves apart from them. I think of it as setting us above them. Hildo there is nothing wrong with reporting, it's just a waste of time.

Update:

As long as they don't bother you, actually they caan spice up a boring afternoon. lol most times it's like dueling with a guy whose sword broke.

I suppose I've developed a taste for justice over the years and I've never taken well to bullies. If I see it happening in my neighborhood or at my workplace, I do what I can to stop it. The gift of impunity is ours to give to these jerks through our inaction. I just don't think they deserve it.

When more than one of us makes a report on a troll the chances are excellent that YA will remove it and perhaps suspend the offender. That is what I find frustrating, going to the trouble to report a troll when I know that others will not. But I'll still do it. We've lost too many fine contributors already because of this very problem. I'm so glad you are still here!

I agree. There is really no reason to report because if you do, that just encourages them to make a new account and if you don't, they will still run rampant. Some trolls are people who are bored and sit behind desks all day at work and just report/troll to pass time. Since I started using this site, I probably have only reported people like 5 or 6 times. I only go after the people who are just absolutely out of line.

Sometimes, you just have to see a troll in a good sense. They are a scapegoat. They are a uniting factor for everyone that is LGBT. If we didn't have them, we might turn on ourselves (LGB v T, LG v B, L v G) and we don't need any of that. Also, some of them can be pretty funny such as the spamming ones (like Peter Griffin) and also some trolls like Tara J and zellparis hold a soft spot in our hearts, or at least in mine.

I don't mind people who report a lot though. I guess it is good to have some checks and balances, even if they are really small since someone can start a new account.

And I agree with Hildo. We have lost many good contributors from here. People that have/had been here for years. The trick is just don't let anyone add you unless you have seen them frequently, there account is more than a few months old, and they are at least respectful of who you are through their answers, even if they don't agree with all of your ideologies.
