Anyone out there that suffers from Aura Migraines?
I have been diagnosed with Aura Migraines. I don't not get a headache but the aura is very frightening. Just wondering if there is anyone out there that suffers with this? I have tried frova, amitriptyline, zonagran and had issues with all three. I have a friend that suffers from migraines and she is on topamax. I am considering talking to my Dr about that next. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You should try keep a diary. A free migraine diary can be found here :
http://www.my-migraine-diary.com/
This migraine diary enables you to find your migraine triggers, as well as pre-migraine symptoms. Printing your diary entries and show them
to your doctor is highly recommended, because every migraine treatment is individual.
This diary has: possible triggers list, pre-migraine symptoms list, migraine symptoms list, pain severity scale, medication list(no default data),
medication effectiveness scale, side effects list, side effects scale, non medical treatment list and non medical treatment scale! All lists have
predefined data, and custom data also can be entered(and saved). Good luck!

I've had these migraines for years, thank goodness you don't get the pain only the auras. Medication is pretty muc trial and error thing depening on the person What works on one person will not necessary work on the other person. So just because it works on your friend doesn't necessary mean it will work on you. Topamax is used in people who have a lot of pain with their headaches. So it may not be a good medication for you. Talk to your doctor they will know the most about the various medications and try to find the right med for you. In my case nothing worked I just had to learn to live with it.
