what does it mean to die in a nuclear explosion in a dream?

First let me start off by saying I'm in the military, my job is helicopter mechanic, but I was just moved out to yuma a day before the dream to work as a gate guard. I don't really remember the start of the dream all I really remember is that we, we being my seargent who recently deployed, a few people that I didn't recognize but felt like I knew, and myself, were on what seemed to be some kind of military base working when all of a sudden every body was panicking, but not because the blast happened, rather something else that I don't know, then my sergeant tells me "we gotta get out of here!!!" As we start running towards a aircraft carrier I see an explosion in the distance and then another, after the second explosion I felt like we were going to make it wherever we were to then I see my sgt. fall to the ground and I thought "holy **** I am about to die!" Then I felt the force of the blast and was knocked to the ground where I closed my eyes and started thinking about how this is it the end and how nothing could change that and when I started to think about how my skin was going to start boiling and melting from the heat I woke up scared shitless! Anybody wanna help me try to clarify what my sub-conscience is trying point out? I know there could be a lot of ideas but that's why I asked here so I could get as many answers as possible.

It means you're afraid of nuclear explosions. Things that we fear tend to manifest themselves in our dreams. I don't like flying, and every now and then I dream I'm in a plane crash. I've also dreamed of nuclear explosions, bear attacks, getting shot, drowning, etc. If these are somehow prophetic, they can't be all correct.

It means you have no clue about how nuclear explosions cause damage. Or that you did watch Terminator III too often.

Maybe infantry gets better training about nuclear damage effects in the USA, I remember that it was a big long listing of how many ways to protect yourself against the nuclear explosion will NOT work in my army (The moral of the story: You're doomed. Accept it. If you are not dead now, you will die in the next days.)

The blast appears long after the heat of the fireball reaches you. When the blast reaches you, you will already be burned to ashes, or the blast will not be strong enough to affect you that badly.

So, the nuclear blast is just facade in your dream. something else is the fear that expresses in it. Maybe you are afraid of dying in a fire?

Dream interpretation isn't the place for the Astronomy and Space forum. But I'll bite.

People get their suggestions from things they see and hear. I bet the details about your head "melting" wouldn't show up in your dream if you hadn't watch Terminator 2 a few years ago nor had you possibly seen some strong images related to nuclear tests after WW2 or pictures from japanese civilians that survived Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Most times, our dreams are just a way for our mind to solve "what if" scenarios. It mixes up all our memories, and lets it run without control. Usually, it helps purge unresolved "what if" scenarios in a safe way; it's not uncommon that people wake up with the solutions to their problems, thus the adage "sleep on it". I guess this would include remote possibilities such as the one you dreamt.

If there was a nuclear event and you were close to it, there would be virtually nothing you could do about it. If you were outside, you'd be severely exposed. If you were too close, it wouldn't make any difference where you were. This is your mind telling you "Hey, you didn't thought about this! What are you going to do about it!?" Thus, your mind is running a "what if" scenario when it has "time" for it (during your sleep) as a preventive measure ("think of things you might do to defend yourself in this scenario"). I suppose that you're fearing circumstances where you have no control. That's only normal, but if the dreams persists longer, I would recommend you to speak to a psychiatrist about it. He/she won't know about physics, of course, but the point is to learn how you can cope with this.

I don't set too much store by dreams. Sometimes if a person has consistently bad dreams or a particular recurring dream it can indicate an underlying psychological problem, but most of the time dreams are just benign. The things you experience in a dream are what your brain happens to render consciously as its subconscious components sort out your memories, which is why you tend to have more vivid dreams if you've recently been learning a lot of new things or having a lot of new experiences.

F all. A dream is your brain discussing with itself all your thoughts and actions of that day (And sometimes events up to years ago) with itself. It will flick through these images or thoughts and try to associate them with eachother. For example if you play MW2 - your brain will see 'army', 'Nuke killstreak', 'death' - and will add them all together. Thats just assuming you play that game.

Dont be worried - dreams examine the past, look into the past and see what may of caused it.

it could be a fear you have deep down or because you are in the army what you think might happen one day. You might need to get a physcologist.
