Who was worth the least to their team: Jordan Magic or Bird?

Celtics

78/79 , 29-53 year before Bird

79/80 , 61-21 Bird's rookie season (same core group as year before)

87/88 , 57-25 Lost in ECF

88/89 , 42-40 Bird misses season to injury. Replaced by All-star Lewis

Bulls

83/84 , 27-55 year before Jordan

84/85 , 38-44 Jordan's rookie season

93/94 , 57-25 win championship

94/95 , 55-27 Jordan retires, Bulls only drop 2 games

Lakers

78/79 47-35 Year before Magic

79/80 NBA champs 60-22 Magic's rookie season

90/91 58-24 Made it to finals

91/92 43-39 Lose in first round of NBA playoffs(Lakers first season without Magic)

Update:

Mavs 11 wow you Jocking Jordan hard. You and i both know that the bulls lost Grant the year before and ended up losing to the Shaq led Magic because of weak interior defense so they went and got the best person to fill that whole. DENIS RODMAN and boom 72 wins

Update 2:

Ignoring facts? Iam not "dissing Jordan" iam just giving you sheep the facts

Update 3:

You call 29 wins and getting owned in the 2nd round "championship potential" LMFAO

Update 4:

GZA you were the only one who disagreed who brought any PROOF into this little debate. The celtics made moves and changes but doesn't it also take a few years to get into contention status after big moves like that. Even with that when Bird went down and they replaced him with lewis they had a huge drop of. While Jordan got replaced by a player who was not even in the NBA and the bulls made it to the ECF and had two less loses lol mane. Thanks anyway you brought subtance to this

    @GZA ARIZA

    C'mon, you can't be serious ....you're gonna say Bird + Carr/Henderson = 61 wins???

Hell, they gave up two HOFers (McAdoo and JoJo White) in place of those players. Not to mention, Dave Cowens was on his last legs as well. AND, they had to deal with a new head coach.

Why can't people face the facts? Bird took a bunch of SCRUBS in college and led them to an undefeated season and the national championship game!!!

Then, he joined a Celtic team that was in the basement the year before and led them to the best record in the league! The fact is that while Bird makes his teams better - Jordan just cares about padding his scoring stats.

Heck, Jordan had the league's leading rebounder in 87 and couldn't even break .500

And for you idiots that like to point out that Bird had better players around him, look at what they did when Bird went down with a double heel injury and missed the whole season in 88-89 .....they were a .500 team and got swept in the first round of the playoffs. And that team had Parish, McHale, DJ, and Ainge. And Bird was replaced by an all-star caliber player in Reggie Lewis!

Compare that with Mike Jordan's Bulls. He retires right before the start of the new season (so the Bulls don't have time to find a quality replacement), and Chicago only drops 2 games ....LOL

This is one of the easier questions on here .....

    Bird > Jordan

    Magic > Jordan

Even the BLIND SHEEP (like The Greatest) can see this ......

    Hope this helps

    ______________

@GZA ......I know he was a cancer. I was merely pointing out that the Celtics had everything stacked against them that year (players coming and going), and Bird was STILL able to lead them to the best record in the league.

There's a huge difference between Bird and Jordan, and this just proves it, despite Jordan fanatics denial. Bird makes teams better - Jordan makes his own stats better.

I love Larry Bird and think he is one of the best players to ever play in the NBA, but people don't realize that his rookie season when he turned a 29 win team into 61 win team is a bit misguided. Celtics were in a rebuilding mode and there was also tumoil with the owner and Red. There were several key moves along with getting bird that turned around the celitcs bird's rookie season. That same year Red traded for M.L. Carr - a solid defender, pg gerald henderson. Those moves along with bird as the leader is why they won the 61 games. Bird did not take the exact same team that won 29 games to 61 games. Players like Carr and Henderson came at the same time as well.

Carr lead the league in steals bird's rookie year.

@Hoopfan...Mcadoo was a cancer on that team. It was good move to get rid of him. It's a team game. I'm not denying bird was the best player on that team and the majority of the reason they won 61 games, but not the sole reason. Wins are done by teams, say all you want that this team did this when a player went out, but there are many other factors. It's a team sport.

Jordan meant the least in the regular season, because his All-Star teammates could pick up his slack, but they needed his leadership and instinct to win championships. You could argue that he meant the least, but he was also the reason they won in the playoffs, if that makes sense

    @ The greatest.

If Larry Bird got drafted to a championship potential team then why did the team go 29-53 the year before he was drafted? The poster of this question proved that Larry Bird meant the most to his team, followed by Magic then Jordan.

jordan meant the most to his team. pippen was the only other great player. so stop dissing jordan. he is the goat whetehr u laker fan boys like it or not

    _______

YOU DO KNOW THAT WHEN JORDAN WAS DRAFTED TO THE BULLS THAT HE WAS THE ONLY GOOD PLAYER ON THE TEAM. HIS TEAMMATES WERE NOT GOOD AT ALL.

BOTH BIRD AND MAGIC GOT DRAFTED TO TEAMS THAT WERE ALREADY CLOSE TO CHAMPIONSHIP POTENTIAL TEAMS. SO ITS NOT FAIR TO COMPARE JORDANS ROOKIE YR TO THEIRS IDIOT

Bird. Michael set the best regular season title in NBA history at 72-10. he also won more championships with Bird. And overall, Michael was just the better player.
