i heard that congress resently banned new books...?
Apparently there's new books include harry potter, uncle toms cabbin, grapes of wrath, ETC have been banned from schools. i was wondering what bill was passed that enacted this, the name of that bill, when it was enacted, and a link where i can read more about it.
when you think about it, it really isnt that hard to beleive. congress has a long history of baning books.

I do believe what you were told is full of BS
That would go against two parts of the constitution the people hold dearly
Freedom of the press and free speech.
Local governments and sometimes states are the ones that sometimes do those stupid things which ends up giving them bad press, laughed at and seen as backwoods hillbillies.

That doesn't sound too crazy when you see in the news about the Pentagon buying up copies of a book out on the war in Afghanistan. Obviously there is something in that book the censor police don't want the rest of us to see.

Those decisions are generally made by State the Local governments.
You know, the ones Conservatives are always talking about as being so good and responsible.

Probably what you heard was a rumor based on certain red states like Texas taking them out of libraries or white washing their History texts.

Texas fixed books that liberals destroyed 40 years ago. That might be what you speak of.

The Govt cant do that and that isnt true anyway. Our new supreme court justice Elena Kegan thinks the govt can ban books though
