Google issue that has all but stumped me?

It is to do with my mums computer which has Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3

On google if you type in a search item it throws up search results as usual and then on most occasions if you select a link even if the link is genuine (as I'm not daft and so don't go for a link that I think or know to be a dodgy link) it comes up document moved redirecting and then comes up with a new website that has nothing to do with the search item or trys to be but clearly isn't what you were searching for!

I have done the following in this order

Reset Internet Explorer

Uninstalled IE8 back to IE6 and then reinstalled IE8

Used Avast boot scan (we use Avast as it is one of the best Antiviruses that is free)

Used Malwarebytes full scan

Installed Mozilla Firefox

Checked and rechecked Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox settings

Made sure that Windows, IE8 and Mozilla and anti virus software is FULLY up to date

This issue STILL comes up! short of throwing a brick at the computer I don't know what else i can do to sort it out

Help please, sensible answers only anything that is daft will be reported thank you

Sounds to me like an infection.

First thing I'd try would be a "system restore" and MAKE SURE you go back beyond where these problems started.

Maybe a highjacker. These things can be nasty.

May need to reset your host file. Do system restore first.

As a last resort, you may need to do a reinstall.

Do you have a recovery partiition on your computer or an XP disk?

If this doesn't work, drop me a line.
