How can I be able to associate with more people in High School?

Question

Okay..so I just started high school...It sucks. I've heard people say that high school is the best years of your life but it really sucks for me. I only have five friends and only two of them are in my classes. I really want to make new friends and I'm wanting to have a boyfriend. I also see the sophomores with like a group of their own, consisting of girls and guys, and I really want to have a group like that too. I'm sort of a shy Asian girl so I don't talk unless it's needed. The freshmen in my grade also have little groups of their own and I don't really want to be like a lost new person if I know someone. My friends and I are sort of in the middle: we're not so popular or low enough to be called unsociable losers. I really want to have a lot more friends so how can I be able to associate with guys and girls in my classes?

I start out by being around someone who talks a lot. To anyone. And this recently got me a new bestfriend last week. I sat by this boy who talks to everyone and he talked to me. Then it got easier to talk to him and then he introduced me to his friends and now I have another big circle of friends.(: I had plenty before, but it's nice to have moree.

Get involved, join a club. Asian Club, book club, join the year book staff, poster/advertising club to make signs for school events....

just say hey whats up? do you watch this tv show, did you see this movie? what did you do over the weekend? say stuff like that, i know its hard to make friends, and it feels lonely but try!! join a club or a sport, thats what i did!
