Alternative to iTunes?
What is my best bet for a software that can sync music to my iPod nano, without my having to keep a copy of the music on the computer? (Like older mp3 players, to which you could simply transfer music, as on a flash drive.)
I assume that none of these lets me delete synced songs from my computer:
foobar2000
Songbird
CopyTransManager
Amarok
MediaMonkey
YamiPod

I keep itunes on my computer but all of the itunes music is on an external drive. I just switched my itunes folder to the other drive.
You can swap where itunes looks for music in the advanced options. On my computer my itunes folder is very small in size. There is no music files in that folder at all. All of the music is on the external drive.
When I have both plugged in they sync together.
You can do the same thing that I do, using your flash drive. Just give your flash drive a permanent name, like FlashX, instead of the dynamic one your computer will automatically give it. This way itunes will recognize FlashX as the music folder for which it will sync from.

regrettably there is not any longer. it type of feels like Apple has monopolized the MP3 participant marketplace with the help of having to totally use their application with their product. you could receive songs from Limewire and different resources, yet you would possibly want to sync using iTunes.
