Are iPads really that great?

I have an iPod touch but I am thinking about selling it to get the iPad. I am a college student. Should I?

    I think it depends on who you ask.

    Def Not!

    Ipads are large, so you cant stick it in ur pocket if your listening to music, so you either have to hold it in your hands or get some special backpack to hold it. and who likes to have to lug around items all day? If you need to do something with both of your hands then you would instinctively set it down unlike the ipod that can slide into ur pocket.

    Also ipad apps are alot more expensive then ipod apps, so you would pay alot more for ipad apps that are also available on the ipod.

    -Also-

    For the money, the ipad can do alot less than a computer of the same price because:

    1) All the firewalls and locks on the ipad prevent you from getting certain useful and practical programs on it that you can get on a computer. these firewalls also prevent you from running two programs on the ipad, so you couldn't listen to pandora and type up an essay simultaneously.

    2) The Ipod has the screen on the front (obviously) so its so much easier to damage and scratch it.

    3) The keyboard is touchpad, so unless you purchase a keyboard for it, a laptop is much easier to type on.

    4) The programs that make the ipad practical (ex: word documents/spreadsheets) are harder to navigate on and carry-out tasks than on a computer.

    5) I am not sure if there is an internet card slot on the ipad, but if there isn't, you cant get online unless you have wi-fi.

    I recommend purchasing a laptop (if you dont already have one) instead of buying the ipad (unless you plan to jailbreak it, which voids the warranty), but otherwise, i would just keep the ipod touch, upgrade to a better newer one, or get an iphone.

    watching videos, reading eBooks or playing cool games, pictures,etc, all of these can be realized in ipad. With a big Multi-Touch LED screen, I can watch whatever Hollywood blockbuster to my iPad. I convert my movie to ipad with dvd to ipad converter. http://www.dvdtoipadconverters.org/

    Recently, I hear that beginning from the fall semester in 2010, some American universities is going to adopt iPad in teaching activities. Insiders said that it is not only a try to promote educational business with high technology, but may also change the traditional teaching and learning method fundamentally.

    dont do it!

    ipod touches and ipads are literally the same thing. let me spell it out for you.

    An ipad costs alot and the only thing that makes them so great are the apps.so:

    ipad = money+apps

    apps = money

    ipad = 2 x money

    just get an iphone if you want value for your money

    iPad = iPod in a larger case with a larger screen, but not powerful enough to do any more than an iPod can.

    Great? More like lame.

    Definitely not. You'd be much better off with a netbook or laptop.
