Theme Weddings (Alice, Dorothy or Royal)?

My fiance and I are really "unique" people, and he really wants to make sure our wedding really displays our (mostly mine, he doesn't like being in the spotlight) personalities. I've come up with 3 possible theme wedding ideas, and I'd really like you're opinions on them:

a) Alice in Wonderland

Pros: cute dress, awesome cake, decor possibilities, food possibilities ("Eat Me" cupcakes, "Drink Me" bottles of different drinks). Cons: Lots of people trying to be "different" do this. What would my hubby go as??

b) Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz

Pros: Cute dress, awesome cake (half grey and drab, half colorful, don't forget witch under the house!), decor possibilies and the famous red shoes! Cons: My mom (Dorothy) and my step-dad (he is a magician for a living) kinda have claim on the whole "Dorothy and Wizard" thing in our family, who would Derek be, and who would the other characters be (tinman, lion, scarecrow...), it's hard to get guys to wear make-up!! :P

c) Royal Wedding (King and Queen)

Pros: Cute dress (boatneck, corset!), crown and tiara (instead of rings) and decor. Cons: Kinda makes us seem full of ourselves?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

<3 Peace, love and happiness to all. :)

Update:

Note to haters: Uhh yeah hi. We, unlike most people, like to have fun, be different and play by our own rules. Lots of people have theme weddings, its not like I'm doing a StarWars or Barbie wedding. Anyway, I didn't ask if you LIKE theme weddings, I asked which of these you liked. If you don't like any, don't comment because I honestly don't read them.

For the Alice one your groom could wear pin stripe black pants. A red/burgundy coat and some type of ruffly shirt. Don't forget top hat!

As for the tinman, scarecrow, and lion concern....My first thought was to have like a groomsmen and bridesmaid in silver (for the tin man) some type of fur for the lion...and I dunno maybe denim and flannel for the scarecrow...your flowergirls/ring bearers could be the lolli pop kids.

For the royal one...my first thought was masquerade ball. I think it was in the 14th century a french king and queen had a masquerade ball for their wedding reception. They dressed as woodwoses and fairies. And costumes made of flowers and plants. I'm sure it was crazy! Of course you wouldn't have to do it like that...You could come out like in the Phantom of the Opera Masquerade scene. With the fans...See what I mean at 4:00

Oh my at all the "Negative Nancys'', I think it's a great idea, maybe I'm biased because I for one want my wedding to express something that is a part of me and I would want it to be a fun experience for everyone also.......In my opinion I really like the Alice in Wonderland theme, it seems so whimsical. Perhaps your hubby could go as the mad hatter , just a suggestion.

    Good Luck :)

Out of all of them, I think Alice is the best. Dorothy is soooo overdone and so Halloween, and I think you're right about the Royalty theme, it will make you and FH seem too "into" yourselves. Alice in Wonderland is such a colorful, beautiful, amazing movie, there's so much you can do with it. Oh, and if you're dressing up, couldn't he be the Mad Hatter?

I don't know, I think theme weddings are corny and really not all that Original. I think the most Original is just having a ceremony that fits your tastes in a place that fits you, decorating a reception with things that are you. Dressing up in costumes isn't Original, have you heard of Halloween?

I couldn't imagine standing up in front of all my friends and family getting married in a Dorothy costume from the wizard of oz. It's kinda like making a mockery of getting married. And then gretting guests and thanking them for coming, I would feel like an idiot in that costume. I couldn't take myself seriously, much less ask other people to.

Source(s): Calm down. You asked for opinions, you got them. You can do whatever you want. We aren't going to stop you. Just tried to warn you. :)

Not to be a downer on you, but the theme of a wedding is "wedding."

These are all birthday party themes for kids. A wedding is an adult affair with a serious commitment, anyone considering these immature concepts should take a look at themselves and see if they are really mature enough to make such a deep commitment.

A wedding is about celebrating being married, not about celebrating a movie.

Your family isn't going to think "oh this is so cute and fun," they are going to think "oh my goodness this isn't a wedding, it's a circus."

I say A! And the mad hatter is always a great idea... yes a lot of people do it, its diff with every wedding! Good luck and have fun! Just don't lose your selves in the wedding stuff... find time to just be you and him! No wedding stuff!

Yikes! Sorry, but I don't like any of these. I am all about having a "theme" party at any time of the year, but doing this (dressing up as characters) seems a little immature at a wedding celebration and takes away from the seriousness of the commitment, in my opinion.

But, if you insist....at least the royal one isn't as cheesy as the others.

a and b have both been done before, they are not "unique".

c, I agree, makes you seem full of yourselves.

Why dont you do a theme that is more unique and less gimmicky?

    Everyone here is so uptight.

I think what you mean is that you want the reception to have a theme, which is perfectly all right. Last time I checked, the reception is a time for fun, to celebrate the newlyweds. Who cares if everyone is in costume as long as they're having a good time?

Is this a wedding or a costume party? Why don't you go as a real life Bride, taking her vows seriously. Those ideas make my skin crawl. This is a once in a lifetime event. Don't tacky it up.
