Why do we have to register our vehicles?

I cant figure out any other way except for the state to collect money from us. I know the car is mine so why do i have to keep on re registering my vehicle?

    Besides the collection of state fees, it helps to control the falsifying of Vin numbers knowing the whereabouts of vehicles at all times. It's a paper trail!

    Quite simply so that the authorities know to who the vehicle belongs

    Yes, it's to collect money from you. That money is then used to pay for driver's education and public safety programs, road building and repairs, etc.

    The rego money pays for the roads you drive on.
