The motels in the area are pretty sleazy. Sometimes you can get pretty good deals at the nearby Casinos. As I have no idea what you consider "affordable" I can only recommend you try the websites for Silver Legacy and El Dorado

Why not check out some deals from casinos? There are many casinos in the area and many of them are in walking distance. Harrah's, El Dorado, Silver Legacy, and maybe Reno Regency (it's a kind of service apartment. I think they do provide daily stay which could be cheaper than staying in a hotel).
