It needs an engineer to programme, your landlord should know someone who maintains the system.

It only takes a few minutes to do but I've seen people quoted £80+ before

Source(s): I do for my company in S.Wales.

Like above ,its very easy to do but you can be screwed , its the management company that will be dealing with the copy via your landlord , hence if you get on to them and explain ( get the details off an live in owner ) you may get a better deal , if you plead the nasty landlord story !

I don't think I could put it any better than Bruce. There's your best answer, even if you don't agree with it. "...what is to stop me, if someone is ignoring my calls, from contacting the police department and having them just randomly enter anyone's household of my choosing?" Nothing is stop you and you can do it every day of your life if you like. It's your decision. Whether the police find you credible enough to make entry into a residence is their decision. "So do I just go living the rest of my life worrying nightly that anyone with a badge can just randomly walk into my home at any given time?" I certainly hope not. I hope you can look at it as a one time possible over-reaction from your mother who is the sole person responsible for this. I hope you can explain to her that just because you don't answer your phone one morning isn't necessarily reason to cal the police. I hope that you understand that "anyone with a badge" can't (and didn't) just randomly walk into your home. Your home was not entered randomly, it was entered because your mother apparently told the police something that caused them to be sufficiently concerned about your welfare that they made entry to check on you - hardly a "random" event.
