Am I too old to start to learn the guitar?

I am 20, am I too old to start out, most people I guess start out as children, I want to learn but is it worth it at the age I am?

Tons of people start when they're your age or older. And 20 is actually a great age to begin playing, since your hands are full-size and you've got enough life experience to know you really want to play. Lots of people who start playing when they're kids either lose interest or find it too difficult to form chords, since their hands are too small for the necks of their guitars.

I didn't own a guitar until I was 19 and didn't really learn to play until I was 21 and finished with college. But once I had the time to pursue it, I dove in head first and was writing songs and performing with my own band within a year. I'll never go head to head with Joe Satriani, but I'm not slouchy, either.

Playing a musical instrument isn't something with age limits. There are even programs at retirement homes for seniors who've always wanted to play guitar or piano. As long as you've got the desire and a guitar, you're good to go. Good luck!

I am only 12, but I can tell you I know some of my mom's 56 year old friends who are taking guitar lessons who have never strummed a string in their life :), I want to start taking lessons too soon, and in my opinion, you are never to old for learning to play music :)

Of course not. I didn't start until I was 18 because I had to get a job and buy my own guitar. The important thing is that you get pleasure from it.
