It depends on your skill. If u have played and know the basics, you may get by pretty easy. You have to be in shape and you have to be willing to devote time towards the sport. Usually you practice on an average of every school day. There are games on the weekends occasionally and there is definately gonna be at least one game every week once the season starts. You usually even have to practice during most of your breaks, not all of the break, but the majority of it. It really is a fun sport if you have the passion for it. But you cant expect to just walk on the team and goof off. It is a sport that has to be devoted to in order to succeed. I hope that if you decide to play that you enjoy yourself. Maybe one day I'll see you in the professionals. (:

It depend on how tough your coach is and your skill level right now. If your skills arn't at it's best right now work at it.
I started girl varsity basketball all four yrs(point guard) in high school. my coach was really really tough. I played for him for AAU too so i knew him really well. He had high expectations for me. seem like he always hopped on my back for a ride in practice but game day he tried to be sweet to me. he cussed us out, *literally* ... he made us run. it paid off cause we finished the season with 24-6 record.
You can't get mad if you're coach is hard on you, and push you to do more then you THINK you can handle. don't let your attitude keep you from being something great. Do your best, listen to your coach, become cool with your teammates because they're gone have your back for the upcoming season(S) to come. It should be easy after you get into shape and get the hang of things.

If you don't love basketball enough to work hard every minute of practice or the game, don't play. Respect the game and leave your spot for somebody else. if you want a challenge and you want to learn how to work hard for a payoff that may or may not come, play. the lessons learned are worth the work. and you may just have fun.
