Right do some research then you'll probably find you don't really want an anole at all. Five gallon is way too small they need a large climbing cage to live comfortably. They are a very active lizard and they really aren't very good pets. With alot of handling they will tame but even large adult males are

still small and fragile when compared to your hands making them difficult to handle.

You cannot keep anything in a 5 gallon tank.

Get at LEAST a 10 gallon, and that's only for babies.

Yes, you must feed them live food. Well, you can feed them dead stuff, but most reptiles will only eat it if it's a live.

Do more research, find some care sheets online because I don't know much about anoles. :P

    Good luck.

5 gallons is not enough space for an adult anole to live happily.

They are active little lizards and do need a fair bit of room to move about.

10 gallons is the smallest you'll want to go for one.

Anoles, like most other lizards, do need to eat live insects. They hunt by sight and are likely not to recognise dead insects or pellets as food.

If you want an anole you're going to have to get a bigger tank and deal with live insects :)

Above poster is right. Cage is too small, and anoles will only eat live food. If you are not willing to feed live food choose a different pet.

5 gal may be a little small, but will probably be okay for him. The screen lid will come from a pet store. Yes they will have to eat something alive, crickets, meal worms, etc. they hunt based on sight. I have seen pelleted food that says its for anoles, but of the 1000s of anoles I have dealt with none have eaten it.
