Becker(1964) of Chicago told the world that small family will improve education, and quality of food intake, that will make our population smart and healthy. It is the foundation of an economic development of every nation. Even China and India, 2.34 billion of population combined have pursued the one-child policy. The economy in China has been growing around 10% for decades. India has less success but growing still. many developing countries have performed a family planning policy since 1960s. Now they are mostly emerging economies. It's true to argue that population means domestic market. The economy can be more sustained if the source of growth originated from domestic consumption. But more population means also less resources. Market without purchasing power means nothing to development. Japan has developed an export oriented policy in the1960s, followed by Taiwan,South Korea, China and all ASEAN countries. For them ,the conclusion is less population can mean a development success.

it will not because in the past, economic growth required extra manpower. Now , many jobs that used unsilled labor are accomplished with robots and machines. Therefore, we need less people and more skilled people to create and repair the robots for example
