How hard would it be to learn the Bass guitar after playing Electric for a couple months?

I'm just wondering since I've been watching a bunch of Bass covers of my favorite songs on youtube and I thought it would be fun to play both.

What do you guys think?

I had the exact same dilemma, and went for just bass. Bass is different enough for it not to interfere with your guitar playing, but some of the skills are the same so they will complement each other.

Its quite difficult to learn both from scratch, but if you want to, go for it. Bass is relatively simple, so focus slightly more on guitar, and your timing and fretwork for both will increase. Hey, this way you've got twice and much chance of making a band! And home recordings will sound really cool.

I certainly not took legit courses, however I did advantage widely from one-on-one touch with different guitar gamers. I struggled for approximately a 12 months simply getting elementary chords down from the books (and I already had 6 years of song in the back of me, so studying the song used to be now not a hindrance). Two weeks at camp with 2 different guitar gamers made the entire change -- it confirmed me what the chord positions REALLY appear like and tips on how to make the alterations in pace with the song. However, I believe that my gambling has suffered for now not having ever had formal courses -- peculiarly my classical gambling. My function isn't ultimate, and my finger strokes are mainly now not right. I get the process performed, however I'm certain I'd be so much bigger if I had had a couple of courses early on. The backside line -- get as many courses as you'll come up with the money for. If it is simply 2 or 3, that is a begin. If it is a entire semester, that is first-rate. Lessons with a legit will ALWAYS upgrade your gambling. (Most legit musicians hold to research and take teaching classes ALL THROUGH THEIR CAREERS!)

I was in your exact situation. I have been playing guitar for about 5 years. Then i started to play bass. Once you know all the notes on the guitar and you can play it decently, then bass should be easy to pickup. The only confusion are the note changes and the bigger frets. Other than that, bass will come really easy to you if you practice. Practice guitar for maybe another couple of months then transition to bass. You'll love it!

I agree with the first user, master the guitar first, then bass.
