4 yo pomeranian "too excited" seizures?

i have a 4 y.o. old pomeranian, got her at 9 weeks old, that had a seizure type episode within a couple months of us getting her. Of course it was at night so we ran her to emergency vet hospital who ended up keeping her for 3 days. From what i remember they said it was a seizure that had something to do with her liver, something about how excited she had gotten right before it started, and that she would probably never had another one so they did nothing. Well, they have been correct about not having one for 4 years...but that changed yesterday where she had 3 within 12 hours. They don't last long but scare the crap out of me, my family and especially my dogs (her and my other one watching it all happen). I was going to call the original vet today to find out exactly what they had told me had happened 4 years ago but i have a lot of sleep problems and didn't wake up before they closed. So i am here asking you guys for ideas. What would cause this to happen after 4 years of not having and "episode"?....she is a pomeranian and not very easy to calm down so if it does have something to do with excitablity how am i supposed to know when too much is too much?....and..... today is her 4th birthday and she hasn't had any "episodes" and is acting like she usually does, so what do i do now? my hours just got cut at work so until i find another job i just can't afford all the tests a vet will want to do on her...but that is the first place i am going as soon as i get my first paycheck!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!!!

I don't know why your dog had cluster seizures 4 years later. I do know that 3 in 12 hours is not good. She needs to get to a vet to be put on seizure medication.

Seizures are not uncommon in Pomeranians.

I want to give you a word of warning it is IMPORTANT That you not allow your other dogs around her when unattended. Dogs will OFTEN attack a seizuring dog. This could be tragic if your other dogs are larger.

I have owned three different dogs that had seizure issues. I kept them fairly well controlled on medication.

Take your dog in and get her started on medication to treat the seizures.

I had a dog with canine epilepsy and we were able to treat it without using any anti-epilepsy drugs. Our treatment had to do with a major change in nutrition and worked so well that he didn't have a seizure over the final 5 years of his life. Here are some resources that will help you:
