Worried About Dry socket?
I had my rear 2 wisfom teeth at the top taken out 80 hours ago, and have had no pain since after day 1, however, I felt a small twinge (nothing like the toothache) about an hour ago, it went away but Im still really worried, and I dont know if I should be, I have had some difficulty cleaning thoroughly, but Im male and not on contaceptive pills so Im at a lesser risk. Also I have some honey rose ciggarettes, and I wondered if they were ok to smoke now as they are tobacco etc. free
Thanks

RICHARD,
MOST OF DRY SOCKETS OCCUR WITH LOWER WISDOM TEETH AND THOSE USUALLY OCCUR 24-48 HRS AFTER EXTRACTION. I KNOW THE HEALING; BLOOD CLOT CAN EASILY BE LOST BY A CONSTANT VACUUM THAT YOU DO WHEN SMOKING. CHANCES ARE YOU ARE NOW SAFE FROM A DRY SOCKET.

YES!!!! And no!!!! Don't Smoke for no less than forty eight hours. I was once a smoker and recognise its killer to move with out however believe me, you do NOT wish a dry socket. You will recognise when you get one when you consider that you are going to have extreme affliction. The blood is ordinary within the socket however the inexperienced would be a signal of illness. Keep rinsing and in case your affliction raises I could see your dentist. Since the weekend is coming, you may also wish to name them simply to be riskless. GOOD LUCK!

start doing warm salt water rinses for 4-5 times / day for a week.
this increases the blood supply to the gums and sockets which heal faster.
try avoiding smoking as it slows down the healing.
