If you consider just looks and personality, I'd say it's around like 3.5 looks, 6.5 personality. Looks sell the package, so to speak, and you won't get into a relationship if you can't attract someone with your looks (your personality can only go so far); besides, your attractiveness throughout the relationship is important, you need to keep your partner interested. That's why it gets such a high percentage, but it can't be all looks, because, after all, I don't have to deal with my boyfriend's looks, I deal with his personality: the way he jokes around, the things he likes, the way he talks about me, so on. And I deal with him on a daily basis, so I have to consider his personality more than I would his looks.

There are other factors, though. The guy might have a wonderful personality and the sexiest body, but you have to be compatible (which in itself is part compatibility, part mutual attraction), there's also sex, which takes up a small but important, sometimes decisive percentage. And you can just keep on adding factors; there is not definitive formula for what is important in a relationship. To make matters even more complicated, everyone has their own list of preferences, so for every one of us, the formula that does not exist is completely different.

It depends on the person. Only YOU can decide what the balance is for you. My wife is a very ordinary-looking, kind of chubby, middle-aged woman--but she is the smartest, kindest, most generous, all-round best person I know, and she puts up with my puns. I wouldn't trade her for six of the most gorgeous women (or men) on the planet.

You've gotta make up your own mind--and it's not always the same balance for everybody. My brother has dated some beautiful dimwits and some nice but unspectacular gals who are just better all-round people. There's no one right answer to this question.

It's not so much looks; more so style. I am attracted to really feminine girls. I am somebody who cares a lot about their appearance and I work hard to maintain a good appearance, so I would like someone who is likeminded.

But a person is worth nothing without their personality.
