I have Bell ticket punch, ex London Transport which just lays in a drawer I am told its made of Sterling silve?

I am told its made of sterling silver that really means nothing to me, I also understand its a collectors peice and I wouild like to dispose of it. Any information please . How, why how much is it worth. Thanks in anticipation

    I wouldn't have thought it would be silver - it would be a poor choice of metal for a tool. If it was sterling silver, it would have a set of hallmarks on it somewhere similar to these;

    Not sure of value, but there are probably plenty still around.
