Only a year ago, I also sucked at Math and I hated going to Math class. But, like you have realized it's not an easy task to just drop Math out of your life because we ALL need it.

First, CHANGE your attitude towards the subject, if you say your bad at it and you keep repeating this to yourself you are not going to move forward. Tell yourself that Math is not an easy subject and that MOST people have a hard time with it; consider yourself lucky with a F for starters (once in my school; a whole class got U=ungraded(lower than 10% in my school)

Second continue to practice. What is fun about Math is that you don't have to memorize a whole lot of things (like dates in History of chemical formulas in Chem). With practice some things come naturally in Math. You just have to keep doing it EVERYDAY. Download work sheets from the Internet, do Math problems from your Math book, you can even get your teacher to give you some additional homework. Just keep doing it (that's how I became quite good at it)

If you don't understand something, ASK your teacher. Math is more about logic than most people think. If you grasp the basic concept of a Math lesson - be it algebra, number sequences, trig - you will be able to solve all types of problems by applying that knowledge of the basics. So, whenever you sit in class to learn a new topic, CONCENTRATE and get the basics hardwired into your brain. If you don't understand the foundation you will fail, so ASK your teacher to explain again if you can't get it. There is ALWAYS a way to understand. Your teacher has the responsibility - I will even say the obligation - to use all the resources in his/her power to make you see the LOGIC of Math. So ASK!

When you have grasped the concept, practice it so that you won't forget it. If another student in your class is having trouble and you happen to understand the problem, explain it to him/her. Being able to vocalize what you have learned and guide others successfully is a sign that you have UNDERSTOOD and that you can now MANIPULATE the topic. Explaining a lesson to others is also a way to practice what you know.

The secret to learning and loving Math is to listen well(don't miss class) when a new topic is being thought, ask a teacher or a friend when you don't understand, then go home and practice the topic. You can even practice in groups and tackle the different Math problems with friends (it's actually fun).

Congratulate yourself when you solve a math problem, take a break, have a drink and do another problem. Encourage yourself and convince yourself that you'll get better.

Hope everything works out for you :)

You could reek at math because of how your mind feels about it.

I understand what it's like to be good at science and bad at math. The science concepts have rarely ever bothered me.It was the math that I hated.Ever since Kindergarten and up until now as a junior in High School, I was slow to catch on in math.I was just one who had a poor aptitude for it. I did well in Geometry, now I'm in Algebra 2 and I'm really close to failing, even though I seek out help. I have however, managed to find a solution. In the future, I really want a career in chemistry or biology, but to get there,I realized that I would need high grades in math.Sitting back and complainig about it never helped. There were nights that I would spend 2 hrs. studying math, yet I failed the quiz the very next day.I grew frustrated. Then one day, I discovered an effective way to learn math: by teaching people. At first it sounded crazy as tutoring math was the last thing I'd ever considered. However, it worked because this method hepls to instill the concepts into your brain. Preferably, you could try " tutoring" someone who already is good in math so that they can point out your mistakes.

Last thing..don't give up on your dream of being a vet.If this is something that you feel in your heart go for it. However, in your situation, you may have to make a few sacrifices to acheivig your goal.If you are one who easil forgets how to do math, you might have to spend more time practicing it,which truly is the only other way to get good at math.

There are a variety of summer camps or programs you need to google or ask a guidance counselor advice for that involve math like math camp. Governor's school is one of the most prominent examples i can think of.This program is a summer one and it's free but the catch is that only around 200 students get accepted. There are several governor's schools that focus on maths and sciences. And with your grades, you stand a chance of getting in.This is higly reccomended as colleges will love to see this.

Searching the internet for books that will help improve math scores is also helpful.

Good luck!( sorry for the long answer)

Don't be afraid 2 make neccessary sacrifices. It would be more convinient if both of us were naturally good at math- however you can get good at math.

I feel your pain. I love science and suck at math too! Your best bet is to just try and understand each math equation logically. Because that's what math is, right? Logic ,but transformed into a difficult equation?

Just practice more and try to enjoy the lesson.

the only way to get A in maths is to study at least 3 hours a day... you have to know every "mathematical rule" by heart and solve every question, that's how i do it!
