Ubuntu Linux Video Playback Problem ?

i have installed every codec and vlc player in my ubuntu linux os and when i playback video files (specially xvid and divx) if something fast happens in the video like a fast moving arm i sometimes see broken up video on random positions of video playback screen and they suddenly disappears in seconds or less .

i tried many other video players other than vlc and its still the same result . plus i don't see such a problem when i'm playing videos on windows seven ultimate .

and my vga card is a gts250 . plus i have latest linux video drivers installed .

Update:

Since I only use VLC for playing my DVDs, I really don't have an answer. You could have too many codecs installed. I would really suggest using the Ubuntu Forums when it becomes a technical question. I don't see too many people in here that know that much about Linux. It could be needing to open the settings and adjusting the frame rates. I am only guessing at this. Since you have said it is every player you try to use in Ubuntu, it may be some other issue. I really don't know.

    Two Questions:

    1) Which version of Ubuntu are you running? Are you on the latest, 10.04?

    2) Are you using 32 or 64 bit?

Edit: 10.10 is still in Beta, which could be the problem. You might want to check Launchpad to see if there are any bug reports detailing the problem you are experiencing.
