Isn't Skype supposed to be free?

How can I download it and use it with no monthly or annual charges?

    It's free as long as you go computer to computer. Call a real phone and there are charges.

    Skype only charges if you want to call people. Video chat is free.

    Yes it is free... you must be on the wrong site... oh you may have to pay to call land lines

    I ve had it for ages and never had to pay. now I can't sign in without paying.
