    They are essentially the same thing, but the latter term has come to be applied to laws like those in Oregon that permit a physician to end the life of a terminally ill person.

    It's really not that hard to look these words up on the internet or in a dictionary...but, euthanasia is killing old people, or severely or terminally ill people to basically put them out of misery...it's against their will or consent (it's known as mercy killings...basically it's murder)..........assisted suicide it assiting people, usually old/serverely or terminally ill, to kill themselves with their consent
