    The author owns the words but the publisher owns the performance rights in most cases. Someone has to PAY the voice actor. Someone has to PAY the sound engineers. Someone has to PAY for the use of the sound equipment.

    You can use Librivox for out of copyright stories read by volunteers for free.

    "Free" things online have a habit of being STOLEN PROPERTY.

    try your local libraries website. you still will probably have to wait for them if they are already reserved, and you only get it for a certain amount of time but its a pretty nice setup. i get ebooks for my nook all the time
